2 million Ecuadorians reside in the USA, most of them are illegals. If there could be an Ecuadorian referendum on statehood, I believe the majority would vote in favor. Will the USA then be interested in Ecuador? Its strategic location in South America might be an enticement.
A super majority of congress would have to vote in favor of annexing the country.
This would never happen. Also, the government of Ecuador would have to agree.
That would never happen either.
