The similarities are striking.
The Nazi party did not suddenly snap into existence and start killing Jews.
They slowly gained support by developing a system of acceptance for the absurd (i.e. hating Jews) until, after years of persistence, they got the public to support their genocide and repeated invasion of sovereign countries.
Today, the three pillars of American government are heavily dominated by Republicans, a right-leaning group as were the Nazis.
The style is the same: unless you are Christian and white, you are less worthy.
This gives them the "moral" ground on which to mount a campaign to pursue similiarly absurd ideas as wiping out Jews (i.e. today, we're detaining and spying on Americans without legal probable cause, murdering "terrorists" who oppose our government, as well as invading sovereign countries).
