Maybe God is going out of his way to stop you from tithing.
Church tithing is a scam. In Deut. 14:22-26 you will see that the tithe is food not money.
Your preacher will say that they didn't have money back then, but read it closely, vs 25 says if its too far to travel sell your tithe for money and when you get to Gods place buy whatever food and strong drink(could this be alcoholic?) you want. Deut. 12:11-27 tells you that you can tithe at home and vs 17-18 tells that the tither always eats the tithe.
The word tithe is used 40 times in the OT and only 8 in the NT but it is preached constantly. 2 Cor 16:1-3 collections were for the poor and to be on Sunday so that no money would be collected when Paul preached. Hmmm I guess that means he didn't preach on Sunday like the Pagan Romans did.
Jacob was the first to tithe 10% of all that he has. Ask yourself what church did he give it to? In case anyone can't figure this out there were no churches. Tithing was a requirement of the law, why do churches only keep the parts of the law that will benefit them?
If you keep the law then you must keep all the law. With that being the case why isn't your preacher slaughtering animals for sacrifice and checking their innards by hand for tumors? And if we follow the O.T. tithing we are allowed strong drink, think the preacher will mind if you come to church drunk? Just tell him you are partaking of your tithe.
Always remember "You cannot serve God and Mammon". If your preacher tells people to tithe, which almost all do, then he is serving mammon(money).
He is not a man of God and does not know Christ as Savior for no man of God would ever ask for money for himself.
Run from this church and never return. Find a non-tithing church. Good luck with that one.(They are out there though, I lead a non-tithing church and Schneb attends one.) We are to live by faith, where is the preachers faith, he is a swindler and has no faith and is stealing yours from you.
Everywhere ever mentioned tithing is food. Now offerings are something different. You are to offer money as God leads you to help others in need.
