What is so horrible about dating older people?

So I cant really stand people my age, so relationships that work best end up being with older guys, which can be frustrating as our culture is against that and laws reflect that. I understand it is to keep people from getting taken advantage of, but still, that all has very little to do with age and a lot to do with maturity level.

Nothing. You essentially answered your own question with your last sentence, a question in any case that can only be appropriately and accurately answered on a very individualized basis. It's not about an age differential, it's about the quality of person. It's not about possible risk or societal misgiving, but about personal expectation and scope of maturity. It's not about being too young (unless you're twelve, in which case you shouldn't even be asking this question), but about being emotionally and mentally equipped for more than your own age group tends to offer as a general whole. In the end, age factors in very little with the one primary exception of life-experience and what that means to the stability and wisdom of a person. You will find similarly aged people the world over experiencing the same relationship pitfalls as are potential to an age-imbalanced relationship. Difference in age, in most cases, will be a much smaller factor or culprit in the risks of danger than will be a person's inability to adequately judge character and establish their own self-awareness (whatever their age).

I'm 33. I was just married in December to a beautiful, capable, very worthy 20 year-old. The age-thing crossed our minds (and everybody else's), of course. But it was a momentary waste of time once we (and everybody else) looked past it and into the realm of more meaningful things. People tend to hold age alone accountable for the way a person may or may not be. This, in my experience, tends to be an unfair generalization across the board. Truth is, regardless of age, there are many other facts about a person that go into their making. Look at the person, not the number of years they've been alive (which opens the door for people your same age or even younger than you at the same time).
